Onion skins progress

So I’ve been chugging along on this sock – it’s not been a priority as I did in fact have to do the essay and the job application. But it’s nearly time for toe decreases!!

And ten onto the second sock straight away because as every knitter knows, second sock syndrome is far far to easy to catch!

Tomorrow is my birthday (yay!) and I’m hoping for knitterly goodness from my husband – he did good at Christmas, when he got sock yarn, so fingers crossed. It’s not breaking the yarn diet if someone else buys it, right?

Sock in progress

I have a 1500 word essay due in on Wednesday, and a job application with the exact same deadline so what am I doing? Knitting a sock, naturally.

I’m using some of the random impulse purchase Opal yarn from the back end of last year, so it’s hardly deep stash. It is self striping though, and there’s something about self striping yarn that just makes the socks fly! I cast on for this just over a week ago and I’m already halfway down the foot of the first sock…
The yarn is from the “sweet n spicy” range, and is of course in blues and purples:

As for the deep stash sock yarn (the Noro sock that was halfway through being made into jaywalkers) well it was frogged and gifted to my friend J. Hopefully she can do something with it. The colours are lovely, I think I’m just a bit cursed with that yarn. Nothing I have knit with Noro works out right.

Finished object alert!!

Right, I managed to lock myself out for an age but I’m back in now – I hope!
So, we have a finished object…. Socks!
Yarn: rico superba zebra stripes in a blue & grey colourway
Pattern: monkey by Cookie A
Mods: well as always I ignore the heel / toe instructions, because I’m fussy and slightly set in my ways…
I really like this pattern, it’s interesting enough to keep me going, it’s easy enough to remember. It’s my second pair, after Celtic the first, I may yet make another pair…
So, here’s the finished goods:
(And shhhh about the fact the ends aren’t worked away yet, no-one is perfect)

Mega quick update

I’ve been working on these socks on and off since September – mostly off. I’ve got one complete and I’m about to start the foot of the other. I like the pattern very much (it’s the second time around) but the yarn not so much, simple because wit doesn’t play well with the pattern. But I cast on in Luxembourg where I had no access to alternative patterns and / or yarn, so I’m persevering.
